OUR STORY

How Estora Began

Estora was founded in Chiang Mai in 2019 by a small group of facilitators and organisers who had each, in their own way, watched a family struggle after losing someone dear — not simply with grief, but with the practical weight of scattered documents, unspoken wishes, and conversations that had never found the right moment.

The founders were not lawyers or financial planners. They were educators, community workers, and family advocates who believed that preparation is an act of love — and that most families simply needed a quiet, structured space to begin. Estora opened its first workshop room on Mahidol Road in 2019, and has grown steadily through word of mouth in the Pa Daet and wider Chiang Mai community.

The name Estora is drawn from the old Portuguese word for "story" — a reminder that every family has one worth keeping, and that the documents and memories we gather together form the chapters that outlast us.

Our approach has always been gently educational. We do not hold ourselves out as advisors, counsellors, or practitioners of any regulated profession. What we offer is knowledge, structure, and company — a warm room and a thoughtful guide for families working through something most people find difficult to start.

Our workshops draw participants from across Chiang Mai: Thai families, expat residents, and international families with roots in northern Thailand. Sessions are held in English, with Thai-language facilitation available on arrangement.

We are proud to be a small, local organisation. We keep our groups small by intention, our materials carefully considered, and our approach free from pressure or prescription. Families leave Estora sessions with something they can use — and, we hope, with a sense that they have taken a kind step for themselves and for the people they love.

MISSION & VALUES

What We Stand For

Gentleness

We approach every session with patience. There is no correct pace for this work, and we never push families to move faster than feels right.

Integrity

We are clear about what we are and are not. We provide education, not advice. We organise, we inform, we facilitate — and we do not stray beyond that.

Community

Estora belongs to Chiang Mai. We are here for the families who live, grow, and sometimes grieve in this city — and we take that responsibility seriously.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND ESTORA

HOW WE WORK

Our Standards & Approach

We hold ourselves to clear, thoughtful standards — not because they are required, but because the families who trust us deserve nothing less.

Participant Privacy

Personal information shared during sessions is never recorded, retained, or discussed outside the workshop setting. All participant data submitted online is handled under our Privacy Policy.

Educational Framing

Every session is designed and delivered as general education. Facilitators are trained to share information and organising frameworks — not to provide individual legal, financial, or personal advice.

Reviewed Materials

Workshop templates, checklists, and guides are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain accurate, culturally appropriate, and genuinely useful for families in Thailand.

Small Group Sizes

We cap attendance at our sessions deliberately. A smaller group means more space for questions, more time for reflection, and a more personal experience for every participant.

No Sales Pressure

Workshops are standalone offerings. We do not upsell during sessions, and no participant is ever encouraged toward a product or service outside of what they have chosen to attend.

Cultural Sensitivity

We work with Thai, expat, and mixed-heritage families. Our facilitators are trained to navigate cultural differences around family, inheritance, and end-of-life topics with respect and care.

ABOUT OUR WORK

Family Records Education in Chiang Mai

Across northern Thailand, families of all backgrounds are discovering the quiet value of bringing their documents together — birth records, property papers, insurance policies, personal letters — before a moment of urgency makes the task feel overwhelming. Estora was built for this kind of preparation: unhurried, warm, and entirely free from professional obligation.

Our Memory & Records Workshop is suitable for anyone who feels the weight of a drawer full of unsorted papers and wishes they had a framework for making sense of it. Our Open Conversation Session is for families who know there are things to discuss but have not yet found the right setting. Our Keepsake Membership is for those who want ongoing support as their family's needs evolve.

We welcome participants from Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Chiang Rai, and the broader expatriate and international community of northern Thailand. All sessions are offered in English, with Thai-language options available on request. If you would like to learn more about our approach or enquire about a workshop, please reach out to us — we'd be glad to talk.
